Aiding our structural metal detailing services, we possess thousands of hours in practical experience in building structures based on our own design. This means that in addition to our technical capabilities with detailing software’s, we also have a deep understanding of the physical limitations of the materials we work with.

Excel Steel uses not only one, but two industry leading BIM (Building Information Modeling) programs. This ensures that we are able to effectively model any structure no matter the shape or size. Utilizing Tekla Structures and SDS2 detailing softwares we are able to create accurate 3D models, closely following AISC guidelines so that safety and cost savings are passed on to the customer. Our softwares are truly parametric and automatically update in reaction to changes made to the 3D model.

Accurate Building Information Modeling

Automatic updates in reaction to change means that any change made to the model will visually reflect load changes to the structure in real time when updates are made to the integral design. This feature enables us to design structures that are strong and safe without the risk of over-engineering, saving our clientele time and keeping the cost down.

Overdesigning causes the need for more steel and more steel means more cost. All connections on the structure are designed using the pounds per square inch(PSI) metric, ensuring that each joint can withstand the load it was designed for in addition to extra load determined by AISC regulation to meet required safety factors.
